There are two types of grinders on the market, one is disposable and the other is reusable. The best grinders have grinding burrs made from ceramic, or stainless steel or carbon steel. We supply ceramic grinding burrs in 95% alumina and steatite. The product you are browsing is made of steatite.
Alumina is high hardness and good wear resistance, making it a suitable material for reusable pepper grinders, salt grinders and coffee grinders. Reusable grinders support refilling. In contrast, disposable grinders are non-refillable, single-use, and disposable. Both grinders have their own application prospects.
Reusable Grinder vs. Disposable Grinder
Reusable Grinder | Disposable Grinder | |
PROS | Reusable Consistent in grind sizes Totally recyclable For the higher end market |
Easy to use No need to wash Cheap and affordable For the low-end market |
CONS | Relatively expensive Refilling may be troublesome Requires cleaning and maintenance |
Non-refillable / one-time use / disposable Doesn't do well with grinding consistency Difficult to recycle |

Q1: How does the ceramic burr grinders work?
Within the grinding mechanism, there is a grinding head that goes inside an outer ring. These two components are a variety of grooves and teeth, and that's what keeps them from locking together while they work.
