Silver Firing Process Surface Metallization of Alumina Ceramic Substrates
With the continuous development of power device technology, especially with the rise of the third-generation semiconductor technology, the
application fields and demand of ceramic substrates continue to expand due to their good thermal conductivity, heat resistance, high strength and
high reliability.
There are many methods of metallizing the surface of ceramic substrates, among which the process of silver firing method is:
1. Pretreatment of ceramic substrates: Ceramic substrates must be pre-treated before metallization to meet the requirements of no burrs, no
protrusions around, smooth and clean ceramics.
2. Preparation of silver paste: There are many types of silver paste, and the formulas are different according to different application scenarios.
3. Coating silver: methods include coating, printing and spraying.
4. Burning silver: The burning process of silver can be divided into four stages:
1) Adhesive volatilization and decomposition stage (from room temperature to 350°C);
2) Silver carbonate or silver oxide reduction stage (350-500°C);
3) Cosolvent melting stage (500°C to the end temperature of silver burning);
4) Cooling down process.
