Why do High-voltage DC Relays Need Ceramic Packages?

High-voltage DC relays are the core components of new energy vehicles and charging piles. High-voltage DC relays are packaged with ceramics to obtain a vacuum environment and are safer.

Ceramics have high hardness and high melting point. They will not deform under high temperature and impact, and will not melt under the action of electric arc. They are ideal insulating materials for making high-voltage and high-current electronic components.

Production Process

How Our Ceramic Parts are Produced?

Jinghui has been focusing on the production and processing of precision ceramic structural parts for more than ten years. As shown below, our product production is mainly divided into 3 steps, forming - finishing - metallization.

1. Forming Method

There are mainly Dry Pressing, Hot Pressing, Isostatic Pressing, and Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM), each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. We will choose the most suitable forming method on the basis of saving costs and ensuring quality.
 

2. Finishing Process

In order to achieve the precision of the product, most ceramic structural parts need further finishing treatment after the sintering process. The main finishing processes we use are machining (lapping, polishing...) and glazing.


3. Metallization Process

Metallization of ceramics refers to the creation of thin metal layers (films) on the surface of ceramics. After the surface of the ceramic material is metallized, it has both the characteristics of ceramics and the properties of metal.

Which Metallization Processes We Support?

Jinghui is proficient in the surface metallization process of ceramic structural parts such as Mo-Mn method, electroless nickel plating method, silver firing method and W-Au method. Here we focus on the electroless nickel plating method.

Simple Mechanism of Mo-Mn method Advantages of Mo-Mn method
Mo powder and Mn powder are used as the main raw materials, and a certain amount of other metal powders are added, as well as metal oxides as active agents (such as Al2O3, MgO, SiO2, CaO, etc.), sintered at high temperature in a reducing atmosphere to form a Mo layer.

To prevent oxidation and improve wettability, after the metallized Mo layer is sintered, a layer of Ni can be plated on it.

(1) The process is mature and stable.

(2) High bonding strength, especially suitable for applications under harsh mechanical and climatic conditions.

(3) It can be repaired many times without damaging the metallization layer.

(4) The requirements for solder, metallization paste formula and sintering atmosphere are not very strict, and the process is easy to master.
